Bad case of tonslitis?

Ive just seen the doctor and he prescribed me antibiotics and said i have tonslitis, ive been doing some reading into it and it doesnt mention mucus as a symptom, basicly ive got a LOT of mucus, everytime i spit (i need to because it clogs up) theres allways lots of this green/yellowish thick mucus how common is this? Allso i dont like taking antibotics do you reckon its nesscery? from what ive read it should just clear up on its own allso the pain isnt to bad and this all started 3 days ago. However my tonsils are quite large to the point were that little thing that dangles at the back of yor thoart is stuck to my left tonsil, Allso some self help tips would be great thanks guys.
