My husband is not very good when it comes to having sex, but I don't want to hurt his feelings?

I find myself disappointed when my husband and I make love. He is usually only interested in doing what he wants to do, or seeing what viewpoints he wants to see, that will be pleasing for him. When he does try to please me a little, he's not very good at it and I can tell he does it all half heartedly. It's not even one thing, it's pretty much everything. Every single time we make love, I try to direct him with my hands to do what I'd like him to do, but he always stops after a few seconds. He is always fast, which I don't like every single time. I'd rather not talk to him about this and hurt his feelings. At the same time, I feel like he doesn't take me into consideration very much and I sometimes feel more like a sex object than a lover. What can I do?
