Why does everyone assume Coldplay is a gay band?

I get that the move 40 Year Old Virgin had a quote about it and stuff, but aside from that, why are they considered gay? What are your guys' opinions about it? I know that I love them to death, one of the best bands out there, and im not gay. There music is deep, its sad, its touching. I dont understand how music that has so much depth can be considered gay, while rap is treated like the god of music, even though its pure ****. I thibnk its a bit unfair for people to assume coldplay is gay, but anyways i wanna here yor guys' opinions.
